  • Fresh herbs: 1 tablespoon – ½ tsp. Dried herbs
  • Whole egg – 2 egg whites, 2 yolks, or 1/4 cup egg substitute
  • Tomato Juice: 1 cup – ½ cup tomato sauce plus a cup of water
  • Fresh Whole Milk: 1 cup – ½ cup evaporated milk, ½ cup water
  • Cornstarch: 1 tablespoon – 2 tbsp. wheat flour
  • Butter: 1 cup – 1 cup margarine, 1 cup shortening, 1/3 tsp. Salt
  • Molasses: 1 cup – 1 cup honey
  • Honey: 1 cup – Sugar (1 1/4 cup plus 1/4 cup water)
  • Prepared mustard: 1 tablespoon – Mustard powder (1 teaspoon)
  • Bread crumbs: 1/4 cup – 1/4 cup crushed export soda crackers, 1/4 cup ground cornflakes
  • Baking powder: 1 tsp – ½ tsp. cream of tartar plus 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • Tomato sauce: 1 cup – Tomato paste (1/4 cup plus 1 cup water)
  • Corn syrup: 1 cup – 1 cup granulated sugar plus 1/4 cup water
  • Buttermilk: 1 cup – Mix 1 cup milk with 1 tsp. lemon juice and steep for 5 minutes or use 1 cup plain yogurt
